The selected films were awarded in 2015 in Poznań Open competition section of Short Waves Festival.

The Shortest Days – Polish Wave will visit Berlin, Birmingham, Ghent, Madrid and Vilnius. From the 19th to the 21st of December, nights will be longer than days, and it is a great opportunity to go to the cinema and celebrate a great feast of short movies.

Programme:

Poznań Open Award I // Agnieszka Borowa – HOME // Animation, 14’22”, 2014

The heroine of this austere animation comes back to a house built from memories. In order to move one step further, she needs to get over her past.

Poznań Open Award II // Vahram Mkhitaryan – MILKY BROTHER // Fiction film, 29’59”, 2014

Seto, a ten-year-old boy from an Armenian village, dreams about having siblings. His family is struck by a tragedy and his brother is literally replaced by a small lamb.

Poznań Open Award III // Zofia Pręgowska – INVISIBLE // Dokumentary, 22’03”, 2014

Mrs. Krystyna is ninety years old and has enormous poetic output in her notebooks. She is still taking notes of her visions of the world, although she can barely see it. She is currently preparing to go on a poetry recitation contest.

Ola Szmida – UNWANTED DESIRES // Animation, 4’00”, 2014

A very cheeky animation about people.

Mateusz Głowacki – SURVEY ABOUT MEN // Documentary, 30’53”, 2014

A survey about men or a documentary about women. Another futile attempt to understand the fair sex and an engaging film at the same time.
